The problem is NOT that you are eating too much
You know, of all the deadly dieting myths, the single worst one has got to be to "cut down on your portion sizes."
Look, do you like starving yourself?
I know I sure don't.
I can't STAND to be hungry. When I get hungry is when I'm the most likely to reach for the junk food ... which really kills a good diet.
The problem isn't that you are eating too much.
It's that you aren't eating often enough ... and maybe not eating enough period.
Every study I've ever seen has said that if you want to lose weight, then you should be eating every two or three hours.
And skipping breakfast is DEADLY to trying to lose weight.
By constantly giving yourself a snack ... a HEALTHY snack, you cut out the body's need for junk food.
You should be eating a decent breakfast (oatmeal, whole wheat toast, coffee) ... and a good lunch (not hamburgers either) ... and a good dinner.
But you should also be CONSTANTLY snacking on fruits and veggies (minus the ranch).
This will keep you satisfied ... but more importantly, it'll keep your metabolism running at full speed burning those calories off.
It's only when you begin to starve yourself ... to cut back on your portion sizes .... that your body goes into "starvation mode" and cuts your metabolic rate and stores fat as much as possible.
Do you want to be telling your body to store fat?
Then you've got to eat! Often!
Just remember, that you're supposed to be eating fruits and veggies. And yes, ladies, peanuts and avocados are good too. Yes they contain a lot of "fat". But they contain GOOD fats that will actually help you to LOSE your own fat and lower your cholesterol.
